This week I had a layover in Minneapolis. It wasn’t enough time to see much of anything in Minnesota, but it was enough time to be impressed by this:

Treadmill charging station at the airport.

It’s a free treadmill station, where users can walk and charge their devices at the same time. Here’s what it looks like while you’re on it:

The treadmills are produced by Walk Way, which describes them as a way “to get those extra steps in while simultaneously getting things done.” The only location listed on the company’s website is the Minneapolis airport, though they have pages for “campuses” and “workplaces,” so they apparently plan on expanding.

In any case, these stations are a great idea. It can be a pain to charge things at an airport, and it’s nearly impossible to get any sort of exercise on many trips, so combining those two needs seems like a natural fit. The only downside is that it seems like there will usually be more people than there are treadmill stations.
