Last April while I was working a red eye flight, I saw my first lightning storm from 35k feet. It was an incredible experience. I didn’t have my phone with me at the time, so I later tried to capture what it felt like in this post: “It looks like the cosmos in creation, like the finger of God bringing life into the universe.  It is magnificent.”

Recently, a friend of mine texted me this video he took of a thunderstorm. It perfectly captures the ethereal beauty of seeing lightning from above:

Even though I’ve experienced several storms since I wrote my initial post on them, I still stand in awe at their magnificent beauty and power. And seeing thunderstorms from at 35k feet is still one of my favorite things about being a flight attendant.
