This week, a video from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport spread like wildfire across the internet. The video — which in its original form is interactive — shows what happens to a suitcase after it’s checked at an airport.

And it’s quite an adventure. Over the course of several minutes the suitcase can be seen moving along a labyrinth of conveyor belts and elevators until it’s finally handled by a giant robot arm.

The interactive version of the video didn’t work very well for me, but others have re-uploaded it to YouTube in an easily watchable format:

It’s fascinating to see how an airport works behind the scene. Still, after watching this video I’m glad I tend to only bring carry on bags, given the lengthy and complex journey checked luggage experiences.
